Body found on Delaware River shore July 4 in Pohatcong Twp., police confirm
A body was found earlier this month on the shore of the Delaware River in Pohatcong Township, the township’s acting police chief said.
A call for a person in the water came in about 2:45 p.m. on July 4 near the 1400 block of South Delaware Drive (Route 611) in Williams Township, according to emergency radio broadcasts.
Acting Pohatcong Township Police Chief Ryan Barsony confirmed Saturday that a body was discovered that afternoon on the New Jersey side of the river.
He referred further questions to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office. No one from that office responded to inquiries Sunday.
A Northampton County 911 dispatch supervisor said the Williams Township Fire Co., Pennsylvania State Police out of the Belfast barracks and other agencies were summoned to the river search.
That stretch of river flows between Williams Township on the Pennsylvania side and Pohatcong in Warren County, New Jersey.
