Time will tell if Micah Parsons plays on Sunday night at San Francisco

The Dallas Cowboys spent this past week off and (hopefully) improving. As they return from the bye they are set to visit the San Francisco 49ers, a team who has relatively owned them in recent memory.

For what it is worth, the 49ers are in more gettable circumstances than they ever have been in this little run for the Cowboys. Running back Christian McCaffrey remains a question mark and it is unknown to what severity, but it appeared as if wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was injured in the team’s loss on Sunday to the Kansas City Chiefs. San Francisco is below .500, a far ways removed from the juggernaut status they have had in the same time as Dallas’ little “run” of sorts.

In spite of all of this the Cowboys will need to be at their best to get above .500 themselves with a win against their longtime rivals, and that means we will all be crossing our fingers that pass rusher Micah Parsons is going to play. Parsons met with the local media on Monday and it appears as if his status for Sunday night is still to be determined.

While the work week has begun the Cowboys will obviously pick up serious steam for the week starting on Wednesday, so jumping to any conclusion before then would be unwise. Parsons has been absent from the Cowboys’ gameday roster since their Week 4 win on the road against the New York Giants as he has missed games due to injury (at Pittsburgh and Detroit) for the first time in his career.

While Parsons is eligible to play for Dallas on Sunday night, the other Cowboys pass rushers who are out at the moment – DeMarcus Lawrence, Marshawn Kneeland and Sam Williams – are not as they on injured reserve (Williams won’t return this season). If there is any kind of reinforcement coming, it will be Parsons. Given that he is the best pass rusher on the team the situation could certainly be worse.

One has to wonder if the Cowboys did not sit Parsons through the bye week with his high ankle sprain in hopes that he could return for this specific game. While the Cowboys feel rather down at the moment, the season is a marathon so ensuring that he is back in time to help the overall cause is more important than beating a rival that has owned the team as mentioned.

North Texas doughnut shops named among best in U.S.

Jarams will always be top in our hearts.

Arguments about the best doughnut shops can get heated. We have our own personal top 10 favorites. And we have issues with DoorDash’s list below. So, let’s dive right into this sweet, round confection with a hole in the middle.

For National Donut Day, which is Friday, June 5, for all those who celebrate, DoorDash has a roundup of the top 100-rated small and medium-sized donut shops on DoorDash. The list includes local businesses across 86 cities and 25 states.

To be considered for the Donut Day Dozens list, the bakery must be small or medium-sized, have fewer than 10 stores, and have at least 1,000 reviews. The shops with the highest average consumer ratings from April 2025 to April 2026 were chosen.

Of the 21 donut shops chosen across Texas, 13 are located in North Texas.

A few misses

There are some obvious big misses here. Like La Rue in Trinity Groves, which apparently was left off because it has fewer than 1,000 reviews. We awarded this chef-driven shop Best Doughnuts in 2025 for pushing out top-tier confections every morning and a seasonal menu that will both win you over and break your heart. They’re also using only beef tallow in the fryers now.

And no Jarams? The shop on Preston Road has a 4.7 average rating on DoorDash, and it appears 4.8 was the cutoff. The family-owned Jarams is one of the best shops in Dallas.

As is Detour Donuts in Frisco. This is run by an ambitious young baker who draws long lines for themed doughnuts and a rotating menu.

Beyond North Texas …

The rest of the awarded donut shops were mostly located in Houston, with a sprinkle in San Antonio. Shops were listed in alphabetical order, and not with any sort of numbered ranking system.

  • Best Donuts – Humble, TX
  • Southern Maid Donuts – Humble, TX
  • DAWN DONUTS – League City, TX
  • Max Donuts – Houston, TX
  • Nom Donuts – Houston, TX
  • Snowflake donuts – Houston, TX
  • ST Donuts – San Antonio, TX
  • Mom’s Donut Shop – Gainesville, TX
  • The Donut Palace – Lufkin, TX
