ESPN First Take host Shannon Sharpe said that a potential union between Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and free agent coach Bill Belichick would be a ‘match made in hell’.

Belichick recently departed from the New England Patriots last week and is on the hunt for his next team as he pursues the all-time regular season wins record.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys just got embarrassed in the NFC Wild Card round – getting routed by the Packers 48-32 in a game which wasn’t close until garbage time.

That’s led to many pundits and fans of the team calling for Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy’s job in the aftermath

So, the winningest coach of all time is available and a team in desperate need of a change at the top could do with a new head coach. Sounds like something worth the Cowboys pursuing, right?

Sharpe argues that Belichick is the kind of coach that wants to have control over a team

Seeing as Jerry Jones likely wouldn’t relinquish that, Sharpe thinks it’s a bad fit for Dallas

‘Hell no,’ Sharpe said on Monday’s episode of First Take. ‘Man do you not understand that coach Belichick wants authority?

‘Can you imagine Jerry Jones trying to hold a press conference and tell what’s going on with the team?

‘And you think coach Belichick is gonna sit by – idly by – and let Jerry do that? Absolutely not… It’s a match made in hell.

‘You can’t pick a worse match than Jerry Jones and coach Bill Belichick… He got rid of Jimmy [Johnson]. He got rid of Bill Parcells.

‘Do you understand? Coach Belichick learned under Parcells… Jimmy and coach Parcells and coach Belichick are more alike.

‘And once he got rid of Parcells what has he done? Hired the Chan Gaileys, hired the Dave Campbells, hired the Jason Garretts, hired Mike McCarthy.

‘He don’t want that type of coach. He wants to do everything. He wants to be the face of it. I find it ironic [Stephen A Smith and Dan Orlovsky] don’t you find it ironic, the man that the reporters normally have to [say] “Jerry we have to go talk to the players” – he had so little to talk about yesterday.

‘He always has so much to talk about, [but] he ain’t have nothing to say. He ain’t wanna talk about no players, he ain’t wanna talk about no coaches, all he wanna do was congratulate Green Bay… Green Bay beat them so bad Stephen A., Jerry Jones had nothing to talk about.’
