Dallas police, PETA trying to determine man seen on video dumping canine on Dowdy Ferry Highway

DALLAS (CBSNewsTexas.com) — A person has been charged with animal cruelty in reference to a video launched final week that confirmed a canine being dumped on the aspect of a southern Dallas highway.

Ramiro Zuniga, 41, was arrested by Dallas police on March 11, 2023. He was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals for allegedly abandoning a canine within the 9000 block of Teagarden Highway on Wednesday.

Investigators linked Zuniga to a video launched on Friday by the Dowdy Ferry Animal Fee. The video, apparently captured on March 8, confirmed a person in a white SUV pull over and let a canine out earlier than driving away. The canine was captured and brought to Dallas Animal Companies. 

Shortly after the video was launched, Folks for the Moral Therapy of Animals (PETA) provided a reward of as much as $5,000 for data resulting in the person’s arrest.

Police have been capable of hint Zuniga’s automobile to his dwelling and executed a search warrant the following morning. He was taken into custody and is being held on the Dallas County Jail.
