Driver accused of intoxication in crash that killed teenager in far East Dallas

A 20-year-old driver is accused of being intoxicated in a crash that killed a youngster early Saturday in far East Dallas, police say.

Gabriel Cantu faces prices of intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault and possession of narcotics, Dallas police stated. It’s unclear whether or not he has an lawyer.

Police stated Cantu was rushing north in a black Infiniti within the 2800 block of Peavy Highway, close to Gross Highway, about 12:50 a.m. when he collided with a southbound Ford Taurus.

A teenage passenger in Cantu’s automobile was pronounced lifeless by Dallas Fireplace-Rescue. The teenager’s identification has not been launched.

The Ford’s driver suffered minor accidents, police stated.

Cantu was being held within the Dallas County jail Saturday, and his bail has not been set.
