Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Deuce Vaughn made a strong impression during the team’s 28-23 preseason loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Vaughn, who stands at just five-foot five, checked into the game during the third quarter and finished the night with eight carries for 50 yards and a touchdown, while also recording three receptions for six yards.
Following the game Vaughn told the team’s website that he not only gained ‘a lot of confidence from the game but also thanked his offensive line for the hard work they put in to block for him.
‘A lot of confidence,’ Vaughn said. ‘It’s a question mark coming in when you’re about to play your first NFL game.
‘It’s not college, you wonder if you can go to the speed and be successful. It gives me a lot of confidence, but also understanding that this is just a preseason game.’

The dominative ball carrier ran for 50 yards and a touchdown in his preseason debut
The 5-foot-5 running back was selected in the sixth-round of this year’s draft after playing for Kansas State.
He measured in as the shortest player measured at the NFL Combine since data started being recorded in 2003, but the lack of height didn’t hinder him from putting forth a strong performance.
‘It’s hard to put into words, man,’ Vaughn said earlier on in his comments.
‘I can’t take all of the credit, all of those guys up front were blocking their butts off all game. To get in the end zone in the first preseason game, it’s a testament to all of the work that’s been put in since pre-draft.’
Vaughn is currently competing for his place on the depth chart with starting RB Tony Pollard, Malik Davis, and Ronald Jones who is entering the season with a two-game suspension after a positive PED test.
The dominative half back has also been impressing in practice and is eager to get back to working on his game. He recently went viral on social media after a video showing his teammates appearing to tower over him as he sprinted past them.
‘There were a couple of things I kind of wanted back,’ Vaughn said after Saturday’s game. ‘That’s what practice is for, getting back into the grind of it in the work of the week and get ready for the next preseason game.’
