Embark on a stunningly beautiful waterfall trail in Texas when you visit the Warbler and Laurel Trail at Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve in Austin. The waterfall isn’t enormous, but it’s still one of my favorite waterfalls in the Lone Star State because it’s surrounded by lush greenery and is just so pretty to look at.

Welcome to Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve in beautiful Austin, Texas. You won’t even feel like you’re in the city when you visit this lush, peaceful oasis studded with greenery and native wildlife.
There are many trails within the preserve, and all of them are worth checking out – but today, we’re highlighting the Warbler and Laurel Trail. This short-and-easy stroll is just over one mile in length and has an elevation gain of under 200 feet, so it’s perfect for a little afternoon adventure.

While the trail is popular, you can still enjoy plenty of solitude if you visit in the morning or evening. There are no words to describe the feeling of admiring the panoramic views of the surrounding hills without any noise (other than the sounds of nature) to distract you.

My personal favorite thing about the Warbler and Laurel Trail is the waterfall that it leads to. It is by no means the tallest or most impressive waterfall you’ll ever see, but that actually makes me love it even more because it’s such an unexpected treat.
Before you actually see the waterfall, you’ll hear its gentle trickle just up ahead. Then, just like a scene from a movie, the tiny-but-mighty natural wonder reveals itself through a clearing in the trees, and seeing it is like magic.
The waterfall spills into a small pool surrounded by all sorts of beautiful vegetation. You’ll find it hard to believe you’re still in Texas rather than a tropical paradise!
Just be sure to keep an eye out for creepy crawlers like scorpions and spiders. They love to hide under piles of leaves, so it’s crucial to wear high socks and shoes with thick soles.
