Women’s Storybook Project Of Texas is connecting incarcerated mothers with their children through the joy of literature

HOUSTON — The Girls’s Storybook Undertaking of Texas (WSP) is a ladies’s jail program that connects youngsters with their incarcerated moms by the enjoyment of literature. The first aim of WSP is to cut back the speed of re-incarceration amongst incarcerated moms by strengthening the mother-child connection by literature.
This literature venture requires volunteers to journey to Texas feminine prisons to document incarcerated moms as they learn tales to their youngsters. These recordings provide an opportunity for kids to listen to their mom’s voice whereas they’re away. Connecting the youngsters and moms helps present a purpose for the moms to work exhausting to not return to jail.
