Still Austin Drops Whiskey Release Alongside Texas Author

On Wednesday, Still Austin unveiled the latest release in its “highly sought after” Distillery Reserve Series. The release is a rye whiskey finished in ruby red port barrels and was created as part of a collaboration with the Texas writer, Stacey Swann.

The brand claims each bottle is “unique,” with labels featuring different hand-written portions of her latest work “Good Chaos.”

Still Austin’s Distillery Reserve Series #13 contains 100% Texas rye whiskey clocks in at 108 proof.

It was aged for four years and finished in ruby port barrels for eight months. According to the brand, a few hundred bottles are available for this limited release.

The whiskey can be purchased online starting at 1 p.m. CST, April 15, on a first-come, first-serve basis. The whiskey can be picked up at Still Austin’s tasting room starting April 19.

Swann is a Texas author whose first novel, “Olympus, Texas” was featured in Good Morning America’s Book Club. A Texas State alum, Swann was additionally a Stegner Fellow at Stanford University, according to her website. Her work is regularly featured in literary journals like Texas Highways, Epoch and more.

Nose: Cherry pie with vanilla ice cream, cannolis and mulled wine.

Taste: Chocolate-covered raisins, freshly ground cloves, warm blueberry pancakes and figs.
