It’s National Pet Month, and there are events going on all over the state to celebrate. Whether you have a pet or you’ve been wanting to adopt, be sure to check out these pet-friendly events in your area, from adoption events to social “yappy” hours. You might even meet your future “furever” best friend!

Austin

Adopt Late Night

Thinking of adopting a pet? Austin Animal Center (AAC) has you covered. From 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., they’re hosting a late night adoption on their lawn at 7201 Levander Loop, Austin, TX 78702 on Friday, May 12. Bonus: it’s free! All adoption fees will be waived and volunteers will be on site to help match you and your ideal pet.

Kitten Yoga

This yoga with baby kittens event is the “purrfect” way to destress after a busy workweek while helping stray animals in Austin. The event will benefit Austin Pets Alive and is scheduled for Saturday, May 13 at 10 a.m. at Inner Diva Studios, 10401 Anderson Mill Rd, Austin, TX, 78750.

Yappy Hour

Hotel Vegas Kennel Club knows how to pawty. They’re bringing back their Yappy Hour at East Austin’s largest dog-friendly patio on Friday, May 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a DJ set, a chance to win prizes and a pop-up with local dog vendors. Proceeds from the event will benefit Austin Pets Alive.

San Antonio

Mother Knows Best Adoption Event

Spay Neuter Inject Protect San Antonio (SNIPSA) is a non-profit animal rescue that offers low-cost spay and neutering services to underserved communities in San Antonio. They’re celebrating dog moms with their Mother Knows Best adoption event on Saturday May 13 in honor of Mother’s Day weekend and National Dog Mom Day. The event will be held at at Ten Thousand Villages, 302 Pearl Pkwy #114, San Antonio, TX 78215 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Puppy Yoga

SNIPSA is keeping the pet events going with their Puppy Noses & Yoga Poses puppy yoga event Thursday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Confluence Park. Find your zen while helping out a dog-friendly organization.

Free Nail Trims

It’s Toenail Tuesday at Bulverde’s Bird Dog & Cat Fish Pet Shop next Tuesday, May 16. If you’re located outside of San Antonio or you can make the drive out of the city, treat your pet to a fresh nail trim free of charge from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. — they will thank you for it!

Pet Vaccine Clinic

Give your pet the best gift of all: a long and healthy life, with the Humane Society of North Texas’ (HSNT) low-cost vaccination clinic, going on every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vaccines can be quite expensive, luckily HSNT is offering low prices at their Spay and Neuter Clinic. Rabies vaccines are $5, microchips are $15, and there are countless other services offered. Check out the event site for more information. Cocktails for a Cause

Have a drink while helping the pugs of DFW next week. The Twilite Lounge in Fort Worth is hosting a Cocktails for a Cause benefiting DFW Pug Rescue. The event is located at 212 Lipscomb St, Fort Worth, TX 76104 on Wednesday May 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and features live music from Glenn Williams.

Adoption Event

If you’ve been thinking of adopting a pet, look no further. Dallas Dog is partnering with Hollywood Feed to put on a pet adoption event this Saturday, May 13 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will take place at Hollywood Feed Cedar Springs, 3425 Knight St, Dallas, TX, 75219.
