Aug. 12: Celebrate with pride

Austin Pride will host its 31st annual Pride Parade and Festival. The pride festival will include inflatable games, carnival rides, a story time with drag queens, vendor booths, food and drinks. The parade, which is free, begins at the Texas State Capitol Building, travels down Congress Avenue and ends at the Ann Richards Bridge.

Aug. 12: Pair live music with farm-to-table fare

Vista Brewing is hosting the Outside the City Limits summer concert series every second Saturday of the season. The event includes live music, a pop-up market, craft beers, Texas wines and local food. On Aug. 12, Austin-based jazz and soul band Allisen & The Wy’s Guys will headline, and Austin indie funk band Glass Bandit will open.

Aug. 12-13: Discover vintage treasures

City-wide Vintage Sale, a woman-owned small business based out of Austin, will fill the Palmer Events Center with vintage finds for those attending for purchase. Parking can be found in the Palmer Events Center garage for $10 per car.

Aug. 20: Drink beer for books

Meanwhile Brewing Co. will host the second annual Lagers and Literature event. The event supports nonprofit Inside Books Project that distributes books and other educational materials to the incarcerated. The book fair, which is family-friendly, will take place in the beer garden at Meanwhile. In the taproom guests can order the Meanwhile Pilsner with $1 from each sale going to the nonprofit.

Aug 26: Get batty

Austin will hold its 18th annual Bat Fest on the South Congress Avenue bridge featuring live music, food and a bat costume contest plus the chance to see the world’s largest urban bat colony—1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats—take over the sky.
