Water accident temporarily closes ARC Public Library headquarters
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Augusta Richmond County Public Library System says a water accident with the city’s utility department has temporarily closed their headquarters
On Sunday, April 14, the Augusta Richmond County Public Library System Facebook page posted around 4 p.m. the following message:
“Attention Patrons,
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Augusta Public Library (Headquarters Location) is closed until further notice. Please check our website and social media for further updates.”
Public Information Officer, Diondra Blocker, says the temporary closure is due to an accident with Augusta’s utility department. She says on Sunday around 3:00 p.m., the utility department accidentally hit a water pipe that began flooding part of the first floor of their building on Telfair Street and James Brown Boulevard.
Rest assured to ARC readers, Diondra Blocker says no books or other media were hurt during the flooding.
While the full extent of the building damage is unknown yet, Blocker says doors should open back up sometime this week.
