N. Augusta High School baseball, softball teams get new facility
NORTH AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Local officials, athletes and their families broke ground for a new baseball and softball facility at North Augusta High School on Thursday.
It was made possible due to the penny sales tax in Aiken that’s allowing schools to put money into projects like this.
North Augusta’s baseball coach, Kevin Lynn, spoke about what the groundbreaking means to the team.
“It’s exciting we’ve never had our own field before. We had our home at Riverview Park but that’s only home during the baseball season not home all the time. Everyone else gets to use that field. We’re going to have something that is ours and we are excited for that,” he says.
He said he thinks it will bring new fans to North Augusta once it is fully built.
The Aiken County sales tax will be on the ballot in November.
Also in North Augusta, a new handicap-accessible baseball field opened up in North Augusta last week.
The Miracle League Field at Riverview Park was created specifically to let players, no matter their disability, enjoy the sport without any barriers.
