In an effort to raise awareness about litter and illegal dumping in and near the Savannah River, each city will host volunteers to try to collect the most trash from their respective sides of the river on September 9, 9-11 a.m. Volunteers will clean by land and by water in kayaks and boats. The winning city will have the most impactful cleanup efforts, as measured by volunteer turnout, amount of debris removed, and the most unusual item found.
