AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Former Georgia Governor Nathan Deal made an appearance at Augusta University Today.

It was all for the sharing and signing of his new book, “Veto, the Governor’s Cat.”

“I added some characters to the book that are the results of my imagination, but, each of these characters, birds and animals all try to teach Veto some lessons. Hopefully, as they teach Veto, they will teach children who are either reading the book or having the book read to them,” said Deal.

It’s geared towards children ages 7 to 10 and chronicles the adventures of Deal’s cat, who’s quiet farm life was turned upside down when the family moved to the governor’s mansion.

Portions of the book’s proceeds will fund the Deal Foundation, which continues Deal’s late wife and former first lady of Georgia’s mission of childhood literacy.
