Child brings gun to elementary school in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A baby introduced a gun to Barton Chapel Elementary Faculty this week.

It occurred Monday on the faculty that serves college students as much as fifth grade, the Richmond County Faculty System instructed mother and father in a letter.

“A scholar introduced a handgun and ammunition to highschool,” the district instructed mother and father. “The trainer noticed the coed regularly checking their bookbag and took the coed and bookbag to highschool directors. Faculty directors and Faculty Security and Safety instantly secured the weapon and notified native authorities.”

The incident is being investigated, the district stated.

It occurred on the identical day as a lockdown at Westside Excessive Faculty.

The district stated the lockdown was ordered after a citizen report back to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Workplace that somebody probably entered the college with a weapon. The person in query was taken into custody.

The district requested mother and father to talk to their kids concerning the significance of faculty security, their private security and the appropriateness of things they create to highschool.
