Augustan gets prison for killing sister while playing with gun

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – An Augusta 18-year-old was sentenced to jail this week after pleading responsible in his sister’s demise, in accordance with prosecutors.

Tyquan Dukes by accident shot his sister Meshela Dukes, 18, within the head as he was enjoying with a gun on Sept. 22, 2021, at a residence within the 1500 block of Central Avenue, in accordance with authorities.

He was quickly arrested and booked into Richmond County jail on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and possession of firearm or knife throughout a criminal offense.

On Monday, he pleaded responsible to these crimes, expressing regret.

Underneath his sentencing as a primary offender, Dukes obtained 9 years in jail adopted by six years of probation.
