Augusta mayor to travel to D.C. for U.S. Conference of Mayors
America Convention of Mayors is the official non-partisan group of cities with populations of 30,000 or extra. There are over 1,400 such cities within the nation at present. Every metropolis is represented within the Convention by its chief elected official, the mayor. The Convention holds its Winter Assembly every January in Washington, D.C. and an Annual Assembly every June. Convention members communicate with a united voice on organizational insurance policies and objectives. Mayors contribute to the event of nationwide city coverage by serving on a number of of the convention’s standing committees. The coverage positions adopted on the annual assembly collectively signify the views of the nation’s mayors and are distributed to the President of america and Congress. Along with the continuing work of the Convention’s standing committees, mayors are organized into activity forces to look at and act on points that demand particular consideration resembling civic innovation, exports, starvation and homelessness, and brownfields.
