AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Strong Augusta and other local offices came together to discuss ways to be proactive against violence at the 2024 ASHER Symposium.

The FBI, Augusta Mayor’s Office, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and fire departments all gathered at First Presbyterian Church on Telfair Street on Wednesday morning.

They worked on active shooter exercises along with other drills to help others know what to do and how to stay safe.

One leader spoke about how prevention and safety are a group effort.

“Prevention is a tricky word. I think where the responsibility lies is recognizing and being aware of the potential for something like this to happen anywhere, and it lies with all of us,” said John Ryan with Strong Augusta.
