Augusta church hosts community health fair
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Bethel community church held a community health fair Saturday.
It gave people the opportunity to get health screenings.
More than 70 vendors, including 40 medical professionals, were at the event for the screenings.
This is the 5th health fair after the organizer said she wanted to support people who had breast cancer, like her mother.
“I created this because my mother is a 23-year breast cancer survivor, had three heart attacks, diabetes, arthritis. But she’s in good health because my father was military, so she’s got good health insurance. So I decided to create something so other people can have the benefits my mother has. So this was the creation of it. I’m loving the fact that the community came out in support because it’s so important for us to get early detection of cancer and other things,” said Michael Jones, organizer, One Dollar at a Time Productions.
The organizers plan to have the event next year as well.
