41-year-old killed in shooting on East Chapman Street
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Coroner’s Office identified the victim of a shooting on East Chapman Street early Thursday morning.
According to the Richmond Coroner Mark Bowen, Willie Lee Gonder, 41, of Augusta, was killed after a shooting around 12:52 a.m. on the 700 block of East Chapman Street.
Deputies say they responded suspicious situation and upon arrival, they located Gonder who had been shot at least once.
The investigation is ongoing, with no further information available at this time.
Gonder was shot at least one time and transported to hospital by EMS, Bowen says.
He was pronounced dead at 2 a.m., according to Bowen. An autopsy has been scheduled.
This is the seventh fatal shooting this month across the CSRA and the fifth just in Augusta.
