21-year-old accused of rape in alleged Augusta home invasion

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A 21-year-old has been arrested and accused of raping a woman after forcing his way into her Augusta home, according to arrest warrants.

Davion Laray Benjamin, of Augusta, was arrested Wednesday, according to jail records.

According to arrest warrants, earlier this week, Benjamin forced his way into a home in the 1000 block of River Ridge Drive, raping a resident and holding her at gunpoint.

Benjamin then forced the victim to perform sexual acts on him, according to arrest warrants.

Benjamin is charged with kidnapping, rape, aggravated sodomy, home invasion in the first degree and possession of a firearm or knife during a crime, according to bookings.

Benjamin is in Richmond County jail, according to jail records.

Bond was set at $7,900 for the possession of a firearm or knife during a crime charge. There was no bond for the remaining charges.
