2 people killed in separate overnight crashes across region
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Two people died in separate crashes overnight.
In Aiken County, 26-year-old Patrick Laorenzo of Morton Avenue died after colliding with a pickup truck.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 9 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Rudy Mason Parkway and Wrights Mill Road.
Laorenzo was driving a 2002 Honda motorcycle on Rudy Mason Parkway when it collided with a Chevrolet truck that was trying to turn on to the Parkway from Wrights Mill Road, officials say.
The Aiken County Coroner‘s Office says Laorenzo died from his injuries sustained in the collision. The Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at 9:45 p.m.
No one in the truck was hurt.
Toxicology analysis is pending.
In Orangeburg County, a Chevrolet sedan was traveling eastbound on I-26 when it ran off the right side of the road.
According to officials, the accident happened at midnight.
Troopers say the vehicle overturned, and the driver died.
The driver was the only occupant in the car.
