Traveler who exposed himself to young girl at Atlanta airport tracked down off bystander’s video: police
A man has been handcuffed and pulled off a flight by police after he allegedly exposed himself to a young traveler at a US airport.
The alleged lewd act happened while waiting to board a Frontier Airlines flight to Florida at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Major Kelley Collier from the Atlanta Police Department said Andrei Galynine had been caught on video exposing himself while looking at an unknown younger traveler.
“Another traveler who saw this unknown traveler acting suspiciously began to record him. While recording him, he exposed himself,” Collier said, appearing on FOX 5 Atlanta.
The suspect was able to board his flight to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and went on with his trip, but police tracked his travel and were there to arrest him when he landed back in Atlanta.
Police body camera footage showed officers boarding the packed flight, handcuffing Galynine and escorting him off the aircraft as passengers watched.
“Having only the video with no other information, officers and investigators did an outstanding job of identifying the suspect,” Collier told the station.
He added that Galynine “had previous dealings with law enforcement for similar acts.”
“We’re hopeful this time things are put in place to change his behavior,” he said.
As to why police did not stop the suspect from boarding the flight to Florida, FOX 5 Atlanta reported that the woman who recorded what she thought was suspicious behavior did not know the alleged act had occurred until she played the footage back.
She then reported it to police.
Galynine was charged with public indecency, the station reported.
The incident comes just two months after a US doctor was charged after allegedly exposing himself and masturbating next to a 14-year-old girl on a flight from Hawaii while other passengers slept.
Dr. Sudipta Mohanty, a 33-year-old primary care physician in Boston, allegedly had his pants unzipped and masturbated until ejaculation.
When Mohanty went to the plane’s bathroom, the girl moved to an empty seat in another row for the rest of the flight because she felt “disgusted and very uncomfortable,” according to charging documents seen by the New York Post.
He denied the allegation, saying, “I have no recollection of that.”
