Slater Eugene Marshall, Jr., 88, died peacefully on June 1, 2022, in Cumming GA. He was born in Atlanta GA on March 22, 1934, to Slater and Kathleen (Keeney) Marshall.

Slater graduated from Marist Excessive Faculty then from Georgia Tech in 1956. He was very energetic in lots of organizations whereas at Tech and his love for “Something Tech”, and notably GT sports activities, solely grew stronger through the years.

He married Margaret Schilling, then joined the Air Drive and the newly married couple moved to Seattle WA the place Slater was stationed at Paine Air Drive Base. They later returned to Decatur GA and commenced household life within the Leafmore Creek Park subdivision. Slater appreciated to check with the Leafmore Swim Membership as “the Inexperienced Bay Packers of swimming”. Sadly, Margaret died in 1974, at 39.

Slater married Marie Desantis Filardi in 1976 and so they have been fortunately married for 41 years till her loss of life in 2017. Slater and Marie raised 6 kids – Slater III, Carolyn, Barbara, Greg, Kimin and Dan. The household stays lovingly shut and have been all along with Slater earlier than he handed.

Slater was “Coach Marshall” to many as he coached for years at Briarcliff Neighborhood Sports activities – teaching soccer, baseball and softball. He liked sports activities – enjoying sports activities, watching the household compete, teaching, and watching from his famed recliner. Slater was an avid golfer. He and Marie performed a number of occasions per week and appreciated to take golf journeys collectively. In addition they loved boating and fishing collectively.

After proudly serving his nation in the US Air Drive as a 1st Lieutenant, he started his profession working for IBM as a salesman, then owned and operated a community of McConnell Basic Shops all through the state of Georgia for years. He’s survived by his kids; Slater Marshall, III (Angela), Carolyn Bolling (Calvin), Barbara Smith (Invoice), Greg Filardi (Kim), Kimin Filardi, Dan Filardi (Kelli); his grandchildren, Will Smith (Arielle), Marshall Bolling, Kenan Smith, Daniel Filardi, Christopher Filardi, Ray Filardi, Jake Filardi, nice granddaughter Ansley Smith; sister-in-law, Barbara Trimble (Jim), brother-in-law, Robin Schilling (Sarah), and sister-in-law, Millie Fellin (Jack).

The household needs to precise honest gratitude for the arduous work and loving care of the workers on the Mann Home in Cumming the place Slater lived since 2019. It was a pleasure to look at the mutual love.

He will probably be laid to relaxation at Georgia Nationwide Cemetery in Canton after a household funeral on June 23.
