Proposed ordinance could help make the Atlanta BeltLine safer
ATLANTA – There’s a brand new plan within the works to make the BeltLine safer for pedestrians.
Atlanta metropolis Council member Jason Dozier needs to alter zoning laws that he says will defend people who find themselves strolling from hurt’s means.
Dozier is checked out knowledge from Propel ATL and the Georgia Division of Transportation. He says there have been 14 pedestrian fatalities on the BeltLine since 2015 with eight of these up to now two years. So, he proposes three options to being these numbers down.
“We’re making an attempt to restrict new gasoline stations from being inbuilt a group like this, restrict new breakthroughs, simply can’t be a drive-through related to it and take metropolis out of it with parking,” Dozier stated.
The gasoline stations particularly, he says, contribute to congestion. Below his plan, new gasoline stations would exist half a mile away from the BeltLine.
