Priest who escaped Vietnam named auxiliary bishop in the US

The bishop-elect informed Nola.com that his mom died after being shot by pleasant hearth in Vietnam in 1968, when he was 2 years previous. His father was additionally shot however survived. An older brother had been killed by a landmine.

In August 2015, Tran donated his left kidney to Father Thanh Nguyen, a Vietnamese priest serving within the Archdiocese of Oklahoma Metropolis. Tran and Nguyen grew to become pals whereas learning at St. Joseph Seminary School in Covington, Louisiana.
