Officials identify 18-year-old killed in shooting at southwest Atlanta apartment complex
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Officials have identified the 18-year-old victim who was killed in a shooting at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex early Saturday morning.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office said Sunday morning that the victim was Thomas Lowe of Atlanta.
Officers were called to the Reserve at Birch Creek off Campbellton Road just after 3 a.m. Saturday and found the 18-year-old with an apparent gunshot wound, according to the Atlanta Police Department. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died of his injuries, police said Sunday.
A police spokesperson previously said Saturday that the 18-year-old died at the scene.
Police also said a 16-year-old boy was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. The 16-year-old is expected to recover.
Police appear to be centering their investigation around building Q at the complex. The circumstances of the shooting are unknown, but police said the two victims knew each other. No suspects have been named.
