Man holds woman, child hostage at northeast Atlanta apartment, police say
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A man was arrested for allegedly holding a woman and his child hostage at a northeast Atlanta apartment Friday night, according to police.
Andre Ross, 34, faces a false imprisonment charge. He also had multiple felony arrest warrants for armed robbery, weapons charges, obstruction and violation of probation, according to police. Records show Ross was booked in Fulton County Jail on Saturday and had charges out of Douglas and DeKalb counties.
On Friday around 10 p.m., officers came to an apartment off Piedmont Avenue after reports of a domestic fight. That’s where they met a woman who appeared to be uncooperative and wouldn’t let officers inside or outside the home, but she mouthed “help me,” police said.
A SWAT team and hostage negotiators were called to the apartment and spoke with Ross, who surrendered. The woman and child are safe, according to police.
