Frontier Airlines announces new connection between Kansas City and Atlanta
ATLANTA, Ga. (KCTV) – Travelers will soon have a new option to fly to the East Coast as a new connection between Kansas City and Atlanta has been announced by Frontier Airlines.
Leaders with Frontier Airlines say that on Thursday, Feb. 27, they joined officials from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to announce a major operations expansion at ATL.
“We are thrilled to partner with the leadership at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to significantly grow our operations and bring more low-cost flight options to Atlanta consumers. Our fares are 60 percent lower, on average, than other carriers operating from ATL2,” said James Dempsey, president of Frontier Airlines. “Not only are we committed to making flying affordable, but we are on a mission to deliver a better flight experience with many new enhancements coming in the next year, including a first-class seat option. Additionally, we are proud to be a part of the Atlanta community by providing meaningful and increasing employment opportunities.”
By the summer of 2025, Frontier officials said they would increase departures by 40%, with 9 new destinations to bring the total number of destinations served to 52. New routes include Kansas City, Oranjestad, Aruba, San Pedro Sula and Honduras. They are expected to begin in late May and early June.
“As the third-largest airline in Atlanta, Frontier’s investment in this market is a testament to the strength of our airport, our city, and our shared vision for continued growth,” Jan Lennon, Hartsfield-Jackson interim general manager, said. “Their expansion aligns seamlessly with ATL’s mission of supporting increased connectivity, driving economic impact, and ensuring travelers have more options than ever before. At Hartsfield-Jackson, we don’t just accommodate growth — we prepare for it, we drive it, and we welcome it.”
Frontier said it is Atlanta’s fastest-growing U.S. air carrier based on destinations served. The location also serves as a crew base for the airline, with employment numbers expected to increase to more than 1,200 this year. That includes pilots, flight attendants, airport customer service, ground handling and more.
Dempsey added, “We are excited to have recently relocated our existing operations at ATL to newly-built gates on the E Concourse and want to thank our partners at ATL for the beautiful new facility.”
This spring, Frontier said it is expected to launch the new routes with a celebration of America’s Greenest Airline. As part of the event, airfare as low as $29 will be offered to travelers. The Kansas City flight, which is expected to take off 3 times weekly starting on May 23, is expected to cost just $39. Frequency and times are subject to change.
