Desmond Ridder to take over as Falcons’ starting quarterback; Atlanta to bench Marcus Mariota
The Atlanta Falcons shall be turning to rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder as their new starter, NFL Community Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday.
Ridder had been the Falcons’ backup QB for the primary 13 weeks of the season behind Marcus Mariota, who got here to Atlanta within the offseason. Mariota has led the Falcons to a 5-8 file, and the staff has misplaced 4 of its final 5 video games.
Coach Arthur Smith wouldn’t rule out the potential of altering issues up on the quarterback place after Atlanta’s 19-16 loss to the Steelers final Sunday, saying that “each job is open.” Now it is wanting like Smith has determined to make that change, and Ridder will get his probability to guide the Falcons beginning in Week 15 versus the Saints after this week’s bye.
