Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene suffers groin injury, exits game in Atlanta
ATLANTA – Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene pitched three dominant innings May 7 in Atlanta, and then left the game because of a right groin injury.
Greene, who took a 96-mph line drive off his back during his last start and finished the game anyway, responded vs. the Braves by retiring 9 of 11 batters faced, including six strikeouts (no walks). The Reds led 4-0.
Brent Suter took the mound in place of Greene for the fourth inning.
The extent of the injury was not immediately known.
Greene, a first-time All-Star last season, has a 2.36 ERA and 4-2 record with 61 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings pitched.
