Atlanta police shooting investigation shuts down I-75 SB
ATLANTA – A shooting involving police officers and a death investigation has shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at Cleveland Avenue.
Atlanta police tell FOX 5 that officers responded to a BoltBus on the interstate after receiving reports of a stabbing in the vehicle.
At the scene, officials say the situation escalated, leading to an officer opening fire.
Authorities have confirmed one person is dead, but have not shared information on whether they were killed by the officer or were the stabbing victim.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called to do an independent investigation into the shooting.
While the investigation is ongoing, all lanes on I-75 SB have been closed, leading to serious delays stretching back to University Avenue on the interstate.
Traffic is being diverted off at the corridor ramp to Interstate 85. Drivers can use Metropolitan Parkway or Highway 29 as alternate routes.
