Atlanta police issue public safety alert over Iranian attack on Israel
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta police have issued a public safety alert over fighting between Iran and Israel.
On Saturday, news broke that Iran had launched dozens of missiles and drones against Israel. The attack marked the first time Iran launched a direct military assault on Israel, risking a wider regional conflict.
Soon after the attack, the Atlanta Police Department posted on social media that it was “actively monitoring the developments between Iran and Israel.”
Police said while there were “currently no credible threats to our city,” their “dedication to protecting houses of worship and sensitive areas in all communities remains steadfast.”
They said they “are working closely with law enforcement partners, religious institutions, and community leaders to ensure the safety of everyone in Atlanta.”
They also urged anyone who sees suspicious activity to report it to local authorities immediately.
