WHEREAS:    Roy C. “Invoice” Lewellen was born in Lee County and raised in Marianna, Arkansas;

WHEREAS:    Senator Lewellen was the second Black individual to serve within the Arkansas Senate within the twentieth century;

WHEREAS:    In 1991, Senator Lewellen was the lead sponsor of the legislation that created the Arkansas Minority Well being Fee, a physique whose mission is to extend entry to inexpensive and preventative well being care and work to forestall illnesses and situations which might be   prevalent amongst minority populations;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS, performing beneath the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Arkansas, do hereby order that america flag and the state flag of Arkansas be flown at half-staff all through the State from dawn to sundown on Saturday, April 8, 2023, the day of internment, in tribute to the reminiscence of Senator Roy C. “Invoice” Lewellen.
