Northwest Arkansas packs meals for Ukraine

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Volunteers packed greater than 285,000 meals to ship to Ukraine on Saturday.

A number of native organizations raised cash to pack meals for Ukrainian refugees. MULTIPLi International Founder Josh Foliart stated he hopes the meals will spark a little bit little bit of hope for Ukrainians.

“We need to steward these moments,” Foliart stated. “Effectively, and that’s actually what being a Razorbacks about, that’s what being a Northwest Arkansas group member is about.”

The occasion meant loads to Sasha and Abigail Goncharenko. Sasha is from Ukraine and Abigail is from Fayetteville. The couple met when Abigail moved to Ukraine. They have been on their honeymoon in Jamaica when Russia invaded Ukraine.

“The day that Russia began attacking, we have been unexpectedly refugees,” Abigail Goncharenko stated.

The Goncharenkos’ stated seeing the NWA group come collectively to assist Ukraine makes them hopeful.

“That is like actually an enormous blessing for them, so that is like cool,” Sasha Goncharenko stated. “We’re so appreciative of that.”

Greater than a thousand volunteers got here collectively to pack the meals.

“We began tearing up seeing everybody right here and everybody right here to help Ukraine,” Abigail Goncharenko stated.
