Michigan house explosion kills 4 members of Arkansas family, injures 2 others
NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Four family members from Arkansas were killed Saturday and two others were critically injured when an explosion destroyed the house in which they were staying during a holiday visit.
A news release from the Northfield Township Police Department identified the victims as Hope Bragg, 51; her husband, Don Bragg, 53; their son, Kenneth Bragg, 22; and a daughter, Elizabeth Bragg, 19. Another son, Stephen Bragg, 16, was in stable condition in a hospital.
Richard Pruden, 72, the owner of the house and the father of Hope Bragg, was in critical condition in a hospital, police say. Pruden’s daughter and family were visiting for the holidays, police say.
The explosion was heard for several miles and left a debris field covering two acres, police say. Police say early indications from an investigation into explosion show that an “undetermined fuel air explosion” caused the blast. Investigators do not suspect foul play.
Three of the victims were found dead at the scene. Another victim died at a hospital.
