Arkansas 10 Santa Clara 3 — Middle 7th Inning

Today’s attendance of 11,078 has been treated to an offensive explosion with Arkansas scoring 10 runs over the past two frames. It is the largest crowd of the year for the Razorbacks.

McEntire pitched around a one-out single to keep the Broncos off the scoreboard in the seventh. He has provided invaluable innings out of the bullpen. 

He’s thrown 65 pitches over 4 2/3 innings in relief of Hollan and saved the rest of Arkansas’ bullpen arms for later.

Arkansas 10 Santa Clara 3 — End 6th Inning

Arkansas has blown the game open with a five-run inning.

The Razorbacks added a pair of runs on a homer from Tavian Josenberger. After a leadoff single by Bolton, Josenberger failed to put down a sac bunt and swung away on a 3-2 pitch.

Santa Clara reliever Blake Hammond could not locate any of his pitches and issued three consecutive walks with the bases loaded. He threw just 7 of 22 pitches for strikes.

The Broncos had a runner at third with one out and could not capitalize. McEntire allowed a leadoff single and then threw an errant pickoff attempt to move the runner into scoring position.

A sac bunt moved the runner over but McEntire induced back-to-back infield pop-ups to escape the jam.

Arkansas left a runner on first after Bohrofen’s one-out single. He smoked the ball off the wall in right field.

It was hit so hard that he didn’t have time to advance to second base. Wegner struck out and Rowland grounded out to end the inning.

Arkansas 5 Santa Clara 3 — Middle 5th Inning

The Broncos plated a run after consecutive hard-hit doubles with two outs against McEntire. The Arkansas reliever has allowed 1 run and 4 hits on 44 pitches.

Arkansas 5 Santa Clara 2 — End 4th Inning

The Razorbacks taken the lead against the Broncos’ bullpen with help from the bottom of the lineup.

After a leadoff walk, Santa Clara brought hard-throwing Skylar Hales who surrendered two runs on three singles and sac fly.

Rowland’s bloop single plated Cali from second. Wegner scored from third on a sac fly to center by Bolton.

Kendall Diggs cleared the bases on a three-run single up the middle. It fell out of the diving centerfielder’s glove. 

Santa Clara 2 Arkansas 0 — Middle 4th Inning

Peyton Holt leapt and snagged a hard-hit liner that would have plated a run for the final out of the frame.

The Broncos recorded a pair of singles against McEntire in the inning. Santa Clara is out-hitting Arkansas 5-0 so far.

Santa Clara 2 Arkansas 0 — End 3rd Inning

The Razorbacks stranded the bases loaded after Brady Slavens grounded to first.

John Bolton reached on a hit by pitch. Holt and Diggs drew consecutive walks with two outs.

Arkansas is still searching for its first hit of the ballgame.

Arkansas is turning to RHP Will McEntire out of the bullpen with one out in the third. Hollan’s velocity was down today, topping out at 92 mph and the Broncos took advantage.

The Razorback left-hander allowed two runs on three hits and two walks. He threw 49 pitches, which should make him available for a second appearance this weekend.

McEntire recorded two outs on six pitches, all for strikes.

After two quick outs, Jace Bohrofen extended the inning with a walk. The Razorbacks stranded the runner as Jared Wegner grounded out to shortstop.

Hollan looked much sharper in the second inning as he leaned on his off-speed pitches. He worked around a one-out walk and struck out the final two hitters of the frame.

His pitch count is at 41 through two innings.

The top of the Razorback lineup was retired in order to start the game. Tavian Josenberger and Peyton Holt both grounded out.

Kendall Diggs roped a line drive into left field  that was caught on an athletic running play into the corner.

Santa Clara 2 Arkansas 0 — Middle 1st Inning 

The Broncos came out swinging against Hollan and landed an early blow. They tagged the Arkansas starter for two runs on three hits in the inning — two singles and a double.

All three base hits against Hollan came on fastballs.
