First Black chancellor named at University of Arkansas at Fayetteville – Newstalk KZRG

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Charles Robinson was named Wednesday because the chancellor for the College of Arkansas at Fayetteville, the primary Black individual to guide the flagship campus.

The college’s board of trustees voted unanimously to nominate Robinson, who has served because the practically 31,000-student college’s interim chancellor since August 2021. Robinson has been appointed to a three-year time period.

“He now has the chance to solid a broader imaginative and prescient for advancing the college as a number one public analysis college within the area and elevating its standing on the nationwide stage,” College System President Donald Bobbitt stated in a press release. “He has a singular means to encourage others and to narrate to the numerous totally different constituencies throughout the college, and I sit up for working with him to assist make his tenure as Chancellor successful.”

Robinson, who has served on the college for 23 years, was most not too long ago its provost and govt vice chancellor for educational and pupil affairs.

The earlier chancellor abruptly resigned, citing the issue of holding the place in in the present day’s “polarized society.”
