Arkansas State Police seizes more than a ton of illegal marijuana on Interstate 40 in Crawford County
VAN BUREN, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas State Police seized more than a ton of illegal marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Crawford County on Monday.
ASP said troopers pulled over a tractor-trailer at mile marker 2 on I-40 eastbound for a traffic violation.
Troopers searched the trailer and found seven pallets containing 107 boxes of illegal marijuana weighing 2,872 pounds.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as Zhiping Mu, 31, from Kent, Wash., was arrested and taken to the Crawford County Detention Center. Mu faces a trafficking a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charge.
“This seizure highlights Arkansas State Police’s commitment to fighting drug trafficking on our highways,” Arkansas State Police Director Col. Mike Hagar said in a news release. “I am immensely proud of our Troopers’ dedication to safeguarding Arkansans by stopping the transportation of narcotics through our state and into our communities.”
