Arkansas sees a rise in hate crimes

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Hate crimes are on the rise. Leaving many who contemplate themselves minorities fearing for his or her lives. Some are too scared to go to a restaurant or just decide up groceries.

“I’m scared to stroll out of my home, and it was worse after I began transitioning,” stated Rebekah Pruitt, who’s a transgender girl.

Pruitt stated that it’s powerful to rise up and exit in public. Including individuals yell slurs at her whereas she is out having fun with. “Going to the restroom, going out in public, going to even eat, it took me over two years to right into a restaurant,” stated Pruitt.
