JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Last week, while temperatures plummeted across Arkansas, gas prices rose.

GasBuddy.com reported Monday that average gasoline prices in the Natural State rose 4.3 cents a gallon to $2.61.

That’s still 7.3 cents less than Arkansans paid a month ago, and 46.8 cents less than last year.

Meanwhile, the national average fell 0.8 cents a gallon to $3.03.

While prices jumped in some places, it’s being offset by drops elsewhere, and that has kept alive the possibility of briefly seeing the national average fall to the lowest level since 2021,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

While the national average is just a few cents short of falling below $3, he said the price is likely to rebound as refineries begin to transition to summer gasoline.
