$35+ million provided for Arkansas water and wastewater projects

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) – A number of communities throughout Arkansas have been awarded funding for water and wastewater tasks.

The Arkansas Division of Agriculture’s Arkansas Pure Sources Fee authorized $35,410,210 for 9 water and wastewater tasks and 4 technical help applications.

Three counties in Northeast Arkansas have been a part of the funding. The tasks embrace:

  • Melbourne (Izard County) – $139,050 from the Water, Sewer, and Strong Waste Fund for water meter set up.
  • The Rock-Moore Public Water Authority (Independence County) – $4,262,000 from the Consuming Water State Revolving Mortgage Fund for a brand new water tank and water system enhancements.
  • The Searcy Board of Public Utilities (White County) – $950,000 from the Clear Water State Revolving Mortgage Fund in further funding for wastewater system rehabilitation.

The Pure Sources Fee additionally authorized funding for the next technical help applications:

  • The Arkansas Environmental Coaching Academy (AETA) – $150,000 grant from the Water Growth Fund to offer coaching for members of Retail Water Supplier boards pursuant to Act 605 of 2021.
  • The Arkansas Rural Water Affiliation (ARWA) – $125,000 from the Water Growth Fund. This grant is for the Affiliation’s continued funding help for a Circuit Rider to offer onsite help to water programs with operation, upkeep, administration, and monetary issues.
  • The Arkansas Rural Water Affiliation (ARWA) – $65,000 from the Water Growth Fund to offer continued coaching and technical help to water and wastewater programs all through the state.
