Alabama officials are offering prayers and expressing concern about an apparent assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.

The FBI said Sunday it was investigating what appeared to be an assassination attempt at the Republican nominee at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The incident occurred just nine weeks after Trump was shot in the ear during another attempt on his life.

According to reports from The Associated Press, the U.S. Secret Service opened fire at a man pointing a rifle at the club where Trump was golfing. The suspect fled and was later taken into custody. The former president was not injured.

Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, said the former president was in good spirits.
