Storms knock out power for thousands throughout southeast Alabama

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – Strong storms are leaving many throughout the area without power late Sunday.

According to Wiregrass Electric Cooperative, thousands of their members are experiencing outages, with most of them located in Houston County.

Alabama Power have reported over 200 customers without power.

The ingredients for some severe thunderstorms packing abundant lightning and strong wind gusts were in place Sunday night.

Wiregrass Electric Cooperative is currently working to restore power throughout the region according to a Facebook post.
