Nick Saban shares practice updates on Alabama QBs ahead of Ole Miss game
The Alabama Crimson Tide have been among the teams most talked about in 2023 as they continue through what seems to be a fall from grace after Georgia won its second consecutive national championship last year, with an issue particularly at the quarterback position after the departure of Bryce Young to the NFL.
After being benched temporarily, the Crimson Tide are moving Jalen Milroe back to the starting quarterback position. Saban was recently asked about Milroe and how he has been handling everything.
“He’s doing good. I think his energy has been good. I think his attitude has been great,” Saban said in his Wednesday press conference. “And I think the execution on the field has been good. So it’s been good.”
Quarterback Ty Simpson has been taking reps with the second team.
“Right now, Ty Simpson has been getting most of the work with the twos,” Saban said. “I thought he did a good job when he went in the game, so he’s kind of earned the right to be in that position. I’m sure that he’ll continue to compete and try to get better, and that’ll be good for us in the long term.”
It will be interesting to see if Milroe holds onto the starting position for the remainder of the season and if Alabama can stay on track as it looks to get another win against Ole Miss at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
