Gov. Ivey declares October as HBCU Month in Alabama
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Gov. Kay Ivey has signed a proclamation declaring October as HBCU Month in Alabama.
Ivey signed the proclamation on Oct. 3 with presidents and representatives of Alabama’s traditionally Black schools and Universities presidents and Alabama Workplace of Minority Affairs Director Nichelle Williams Nix in attendance.
Alabama has the most important variety of HBCUs within the nation, with a complete of 14 establishments.
“I’m gratified that AOMA continues to launch initiatives designed to counterpoint our state’s progress,” mentioned Leslie Pollard, President of Oakwood College in Huntsville. “Our Governor’s imaginative and prescient for this workplace signifies her dedication to the development of all individuals.”
AOMO says HBCUs throughout the nation have “a useful impression on numerous communities by serving as financial hubs of their respective areas.”
