Sometimes Texas A&M (30-22, 12-15 SEC) looks like a really good team and sometimes they look like a bottom-tier SEC team. Sunday night they looked like the latter against an Alabama (35-17, 13-14 SEC) team determined to make an impression heading into the postseason. The Aggies dropped game three 11-0 and lose the series in their last home game of the season.
You had felt this game was headed a certain way when Alabama hit a solo home run with two outs in the first. The Aggies got out of that inning with minimal damage, but the Tide came rushing back hitting a grand slam in the second inning for an early 5-0 lead.
Instead of returning the favor, they went down in order in the second, then left runners stranded on the corners in the bottom of the third. Five scoreless innings later Alabama gets a ground-out RBI extending the lead to 6-0.
Finally, to add insult to injury the Tide dumped five more runs on the Aggies late, essentially put the game away. What’s so poetic is that all the runs came after the Aggies had two outs early, but five singles and a walk later Alabama was up 11-0 going to the final inning in Blue Bell Park this season. Mirroring the rest of the game the Aggies didn’t threaten to score and lost without putting up much of a fight.
Final Score: Aggies 0, Tide 11 – W: McNairy, Jacob (6-1); L: Wansing, Troy (2-3)
Final: Alabama 11, Texas A&M 0
