Forward Derrion Reid left Alabama men’s basketball, but he didn’t leave the conference.

Reid is transferring to Oklahoma, he told On3 on Monday.

Reid was a McDonald’s All-American and former five-star recruit, per the 247Sports Composite. Reid spent his freshman season in 2024-25 with the Crimson Tide.

Reid played in 24 games this past season, averaging 24.1 minutes per game as well as six points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.2 blocks and 0.3 steals. He missed about a month of SEC play and did not play 15 or more minutes after the game against Texas A&M on Jan. 11.

Though Reid’s impact was limited his first season, he was a decorated prospect coming out of Georgia. The 247Sports Composite ranked him the No. 10 recruit in the 2024 class. Reid became the second highest-rated recruit after Collin Sexton in program history, per 247Sports’ rankings. Reid was rated ahead of Brandon Miller, JD Davison, Richard Hendrix and more.

Reid is one of four former Alabama players to transfer out after the season and the fourth to find a new home. Mouhamed Dioubate landed at Kentucky, Jarin Stevenson committed to UNC and Naas Cunningham ended up at UNLV.

Alabama coach Nate Oats is heading into his seventh season with Alabama, fresh off another trip to the Elite Eight. During Oats’ tenure in Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide has made the NCAA Tournament every year but one: his first, and that tournament was canceled because of COVID-19. Since then, Oats has made the Sweet 16 four times, the Elite Eight twice and the Final Four once.
