Alabama women’s basketball received good news Sunday when they were selected to the NCAA tournament, but did receive some bad news on Monday when it was announced junior forward Jessica Timmons will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury sustained in the SEC tournament.

Timmons appeared in 32 games for Alabama, starting at the forward position in 30 of them. She ends her season averaging 11.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game for the Crimson Tide in 2023-24.

Losing Timmons prior to tournament play is a major loss for Alabama, who was the Crimson Tide’s third highest scorer and was a consistent starter.

Timmons, a native of Charlotte, N.C., transferred to Alabama from NC State after the 2022-23 season where she played in 38 games in two seasons.

The Crimson Tide kick off NCAA tournament play on Friday, March 22, against Florida State, in Austin, Texas.
